Is Linux - Part I

I have been a Windows user for ages. From the good old day of DOS to Win to Win95, Win98, Win XP and soon …. VISTA.

Early this week, I some how have an urge to try something different. I have heard of many people converting to Linux. But I just do not have the guts to do it. Being used to Windows, you have developed a fear to switch and to try out new thing.

Strangely, this fear was converted into curiosity and I have finally found the guts to try and install Linux. Of course, being cautious, I decided to install Linux on my old IBM notebook.

I mean is really OLD – a Pentium III machine with just 128MB RAM. It is a 12” IBM X20 that come with a docking station. It runs on Windows 98 and was in my store room for over 3 years.

After much cleaning and dusting, I finally plug in the power and started the machine. Being out of service for 3 years is amazing that it still works! This is the kind of quality you get from IBM. Rock solid!

Will, is time to hunt for the Linux software and see if this trusty machine can boot up with Linux!

Stay tune for part 2 – The Wrong Decision…
