I was at the Singapore Airshow on Saturday, 23 Feb 2008. Beside the usual air crafts exhibits and the wonderful acrobatic display of our Black Knight, I was also treated by another kind of flying object –Flies.
I was having my lunch at the Airshow premise operated by Creativeateries Catering. It was a buffet lunch and was very crowded. While we were eating we noticed that there were fly on the cakes.
We informed the Manager of the restaurant. He identified himself as the Director of Operations / Sales and Marketing. When I informed him of the fly on the cakes, I was shock to hear his response. He said "This cannot be help. This is an open area" and did NOTHING to the cakes infested by fly.
In my mind, a senior staff of any F&B company should have Food Safety and Hygiene as their top priority. Any issues with food safety and hygiene must be dealt with immediately. Imagine what can happen if this attitude of "It cannot be help" are to pass on to the kitchen staff?
We cannot compromise food safety and hygiene. This is especially so for the senior staff as they will set the example for the rest of the crews.
