However, issues and problems do not happen overnight. It take time to develop and it is our job as manager to identify them as early as possible.
But how can you detect rumbles on the ground? How do you know if the staff are unhappy with certain policies or processes?
One way I have learn, is to have coffee with them. Yes, its that simple.
However, you must be sincere and not to be too eagle to find out what is going on with them. Sit with them with sincerity and have an open mind to listen. If you feel that some issues need to be address. Let them know that you understood their concern and make sure you bring this up to the management.
Overtime, they will trust you as a person that are willing to listen to them and a person who will take appropriate actions.
So, go on. Have more coffee break at work.
